Pearled Rose Cupcakes

My aunt, uncle, and three cousins were coming into town to visit from Minnesota. My aunt's one request was to be able to see and taste one of my creations. Living in Minnesota they only get to see my cakes and cupcakes on facebook or this blog. So, I decided I was going to try to make a rose cupcake. This is something I have been wanting to try for so long. I love how it turned out! I also got to test out my new airbrush machine, which was fantastic!! The airbrushed pearl color gives the cupcake a little shimmer that I absolutely love. The cake is lemon with a strawberry preserve buttercream frosting and the airbrushed pearl.

Rockstar Baby Shower Cake & Cupcake Tower

A dear friend of mine is having her second child. For her baby shower I made a guitar cake that that will match the bedding. The name in the stars reads "Tommy" but it is a little hard to see in the photos. The cake and cupcakes are vanilla and fudge marble cake with cream cheese frosting. The cupcake stand was also made by yours truly.

Lil Rebel's First Birthday

For my friends Liz and Luke's sons first birthday, they had a Lil Rebel's theme. There were two kinds of cupcakes and a topper cake just for little Liam. The cupcakes were lemon with raspberry filling and lemon cream cheese frosting; and vanilla with chocolate mousse and buttercream frosting. The cake was chocolate with buttercream frosting. I am super happy with the way everything turned out, and of course, the final presentation on the cupcake tower.

Snickerdoodle Cupcakes

This weekend I wanted to test out a new recipe I received from a friend who is a snickerdoodle cookie fan. Since the cupcakes were not going to be served until the day after I made them, I opted out of the 7 minute frosting that the recipe called for and used a sweet butter frosting instead. While the sweet butter frosting was tasty, I will try the next batch with the 7 minute frosting to see the true difference. These will definitely be made again.

Dr. Deb's Graduation Cupcakes

A friend of mine graduated recently with her PhD. For her graduation extravaganza I made her two kinds of cupcakes. Red velvet with cream cheese frosting and limoncello with lemon curd filling and limoncello cream cheese frosting. The grad caps are made with fondant.

Jenn's Bridal Shower Cupcakes

For my cousin Jenn's bridal shower, I made some cupcakes. The pictures to the left show an up close picture of the cupcakes and then the way that they were all set up at her shower. The cupcakes were vanilla with a vanilla buttercream frosting in hot pink, green and white. This was definitely an experience.

I had offered to make cupcakes for my cousins bridal shower. She lives in Colorado, I live in California. I had been thinking about what the best way to get cupcakes made and have as much social time as possible. So, I decided to bake the cupcakes at home in California and transport them on my carry on to Colorado. I packaged them up as tightly as I could and put them in my carry-on. I was impressed how well they held up. There were definitely a few that were too smooched together to use, but all in all the transportation was a success. The TSA lady at security had a good long laugh at me.

Easter Strawberry Champagne Cupcakes

For Easter dessert I decided to make strawberry mini cupcakes with champagne buttercream, chocolate ganache and champagne soaked strawberries. I layered them together in the champagne flutes. It was the perfect amount of sweet for dessert. They were incredible!

Birthday Limoncello Cupcakes

My step-mom has been dying to try my lemon cupcakes with lemon curd filling and lemon cream cheese frosting. So, for her and my Uncle's birthday celebration I decided to change it up a little and make Limoncello cupcakes with lemon curd filling and a limoncello buttercream. They turned out better than I could have imagined. They were definitely a little more exciting than a regular lemon cupcake.

30th Birthday Cupcakes

I recently got an order for cupcakes for a 30th birthday. The only catch was that the cupcakes had to be made excluding very specific ingredients due to a food allergy. After a couple rounds of tester cupcakes, I finally got a product that I was ok with. It was nice to be able to give the birthday girl a cupcake she could actually eat and enjoy. I also made the cupcake stand. It was my first attempt and I learned a lot from it. I love the way that it came out. It was a fun art project to do a few days before the delivery.

Grandma's 93rd Birthday Cupcakes

For my Grandma's 93rd birthday party, I made 4 dozen cupcakes. 2 dozen were vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting (her favorite), and the other 2 dozen were a strawberry champagne cupcake with champagne buttercream. The accent piece on top is a piece of cut fondant stamped with a G for Genie, and painted with some luster dust to add a nice shimmer. The champagne cupcakes were so good. It was my first time ever making them, and it is definitely a recipe I will be making over and over again.

Pick Me Up Cupcakes

A friend of mine was going through a break up and needed some cheering up. What better way to cheer someone up than with a nice sweet treat. I made him a classic vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting. He was super appreciative that I thought of him, and it was nice to see him smile. They did their job.

New Year's Eve Champagne Cupcakes

For New Years Eve this year, my friend Deb asked me to make something yummy and sweet for the celebration. I knew there would be a lot of champagne to ring in the new year, and thought there was no better sweet treat than a champagne cupcake with sweet champagne buttercream frosting. I added little pearl accents to the cupcakes to make them sparkle a little more. They were absolutely delicious. It was the first time that I had made them, and I will definitely do so again. I am glad that I got to make something fun to ring in the new year. Not to mention, that I got a candy apple red Kitchenaid stand mixer for Christmas that I got to use for the first time. What a difference a mixer makes!! And of course, I got to display them in my new cupcake tree. It was a lot of fun.

Chris's Belated Bacon Birthday Cupcakes

So many people have looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned that I was going to make my friend Chris maple bacon cupcakes with chocolate ganache for his birthday. I think people tend to underestimate just how amazing bacon and chocolate pair together. It is quite amazing. These cupcakes are actually maple cupcakes frosted with a chocolate ganache and topped with some chopped bacon. It only took me a month to get Chris his birthday cupcakes, but I am pretty sure he thought it was worth the wait. Definitely a recipe to keep and make over and over again.

Deb's Purple Sparkle Birthday Cupcakes

These cupcakes were for my friend Deb's birthday bash. Instead of bringing a big cake that you have to cut into and pass around, I decided that since we were going out, we needed something easy to eat. What is an easier baked good to eat than a cupcake? I made lemon cupcakes filled with lemon curd and a lemon cream cheese frosting to top. Deb is notorious for loving purple and sparkles. I added some subtle flares of purple with the purple streaks in the frosting and the purple edible glitter. I have to say, I was a little disappointed that the edible glitter wasn't very glittery. Nonetheless, she loved them and so did everyone else. By the end of the night the cupcakes had turned into beautiful creations touched by God and angel tears, and all hand made... even down to the cupcake tins and edible glitter. It was hysterical. I am just glad that everyone loved them, especially the birthday girl.

Margarita Cupcakes

For my friend Hil's graduation from Graduate School, I was asked to do a cake (that you will see above) for a dinner celebration. Since I was not sure how many people would be attending, I came prepared with a dozen cupcakes just in case. Since Hil loves a nice margarita, I thought there would be no better cupcake than margarita. They were fantastic. I will definitely make these again.

Danielle's Graduation Cupcakes

My cousin graduated from high school and asked me to make her cupcakes for her graduation party. She requested red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Since the cupcakes were already red, and her school colors were gold and maroon, I figured a yellow frosting would be perfect. I piped on the yellow cream cheese frosting, added some yellow pearl sprinkles and then added the fondant circles with the piped "D" for Danielle, and the fondant diplomas. They came out super cute. They were presented around a Barbie graduation cake in her school colors. It looked amazing.
