Since I have become the dessert lady, I wanted to make something for a good friends bridal shower. The only thing was that I had to transport whatever I made on a 5-6 hour train ride down to San Diego. Cake balls were the perfect thought. These were made with lemon cake and cream cheese frosting and then colored chocolate candy coating. The theme of the bridal shower was Breakfast at Tiffany's. Once again, the cake balls were a huge hit. People have been telling me how much they crave them. It's always nice to hear that kind of thing.

Jenn's Bridal Shower Cookies
Another thing I did for my cousin's bridal shower was cookies for each guest when they left. They are sugar cookies decorated with royal icing and little fondant and pearl accents. I carried the undecorated cookies onto the plane as well. I was not as worried about their survival as I was with the cupcakes because I had made so many more than I needed. When I got to Colorado, I frosted and decorated the cookies. This was a new recipe, and I have to say it is one of the best sugar cookie recipes I have ever tasted. Success!!

Jenn's Bridal Shower Cupcakes

For my cousin Jenn's bridal shower, I made some cupcakes. The pictures to the left show an up close picture of the cupcakes and then the way that they were all set up at her shower. The cupcakes were vanilla with a vanilla buttercream frosting in hot pink, green and white. This was definitely an experience.
I had offered to make cupcakes for my cousins bridal shower. She lives in Colorado, I live in California. I had been thinking about what the best way to get cupcakes made and have as much social time as possible. So, I decided to bake the cupcakes at home in California and transport them on my carry on to Colorado. I packaged them up as tightly as I could and put them in my carry-on. I was impressed how well they held up. There were definitely a few that were too smooched together to use, but all in all the transportation was a success. The TSA lady at security had a good long laugh at me.

Hil's Bridal Shower Cake
My friend Hilary got engaged and as a bridesmaid, I helped to plan one of her bridal showers. I asked her very early on if it would be ok if I made a cake.. Since I was very new at the whole thing I wasn't sure she would be ok with it, but she was thrilled. Since she has just stopped working at Tiffany & Co. I decided to make the cake Tiffany blue. It was a vanilla cake with buttercream. The hearts with the bride and grooms initials are also buttercream. The dress is fondant and decorated with little buttercream accents. The cake was a total hit. I had people telling me that they thought it was from a professional bakery. Obviously I was overjoyed at the thought since this was one of the very first cakes I have ever made. I am still thrilled when people tell me they love my cakes because I am still so new at it.. Anyway, she loved it and so did everyone else.
