60th Birthday Daffodil Cake
I recently received an order to make a 60th birthday cake for a friends mother. She said that her mother loved daffodils and I ran with it. I thought doing something simple yet elegant would be perfect for such an event. The cake is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, covered with fondant. The daffodils are a mixture of fondant and gum paste. They were a ton of fun, and actually pretty easy to make. I am excited to work on making all kinds of flowers in the near future.

Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara Auction Cake
A friend of mine recently asked me to make a cake for the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara's annual auction. She sent me a picture of the flier and said that it was aviation themed. What better than a huge airplane cake for an aviation themed event. The cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting. All of the accents are done with fondant. It may not look like it, but the cake was fairly large. The idea at the auction was that each cake was donated and displayed in the dining area and each table bid on a cake for their dessert for the evening. I was shocked to hear that this cake earned the Boys and Girls Club $3620. Wowza!!! I am honestly beyond thrilled right now!
